Get Active Exercise Referral Programme giving County Durham a new lease of life

Peterlee Leisure Centre has been working in partnership with the NHS County Durham and Darlington Primary Care Trust for nearly ten years now, developing and delivering exercise referral programmes for eligible patients within the community.

The scheme has grown significantly and is an excellent example of partnership working between Peterlee Leisure Centre and NHS County Durham and Darlington Primary Care Trust. Get Active exercise referral sessions include gym based sessions, circuit classes and aqua fit sessions.

Since the scheme started, Peterlee Leisure Centre has welcomed over 1,700 sessions with over 22,000 repeat visits and have had over 200 sessions this year alone.
