Special Olympics St Albans
St Albans Athletes in Glasgow
All About Us!!
Special Olympics St Albans started in 1998 and member numbers have grown in all sports sessions. We currently run weekly sessions in athletics, golf, football, swimming as weel as multi-sport sessions every other week. We also arrange other trips and activities for our members such as going on residential activity holidays, skiing, cinema, bowling, and to watch football, and rugby matches. We aim to vary the extra activities that we offer and involve as many people as we can.
. Our sessions cost £2 each (except golf, which is
£2.50).
. No booking is required but medical and other relevant
forms need to be completed before participation.
. No experience is required and all ability levels are
welcome.
. Qualified professional coaches run the sessions and our
invaluable volunteers assist us in delivering the sessions.
. The sessions run in term time only (except golf,
which only runs from April to Setpember).
We have a strong committee of parents, coaches, volunteers and members who meet regularly to discuss, update and circulate new ideas. We welcome any newcomers and new support, we also welcome new volunteers and coaches to help run sessions; we always require additional help.
Special Olympics St Albans is a branch member of the registered charity Special Olympics Great Britain. The Special Olympics movement provides sports training and competition for individuals with a learning disability. The sports sessions allow individuals to learn new skills, make new friends and achieve great results in a range of competitions.
