Passport to Leisure
Passport to Leisure is a leisure scheme which aims to integrate adults with learning disabilities into the community through leisure and sporting activities. The scheme is open to anyone who lives in the St Albans District whetherat home, in supported living, in residential accommodation or independently, who is aged 18 plus and who has a learning disability.
The community project was started in 1998 and has a current membership of around 60 people. A programme of activities is prepared on a quarterly basis and sent to everyone on the mailing list. The trips and activities are changed every quarter, the popular ones are repeated. Members, carers and staff are always welcome to suggest trip ideas.
The trips are always run by a qualified staff member with a dedicated team of volunteers. The number of volunteers will very depending on the numbers attending, the venue, the activity and the groups need, but there will never be less than 3 people to support the group.
The summer programme runs from June to September 2007, and all the trips/activities are set out below:-

Snooker Sessions - run weekly every Thursday from 1.30 to 4pm
Summer BBQ - Saturday 14th July
Picnics in the Park - Every Tuesday during the summer holidays
Althorp House - Sunday 22nd July
Southend - Tuesday 24th July
Ten Pin Bowling - Wednesday 25th July and 19th September
Jarmans Leisure Park - Sunday 29th July
Music in the Parks - Sunday 5th August
Pitstone Green Museum Open Day - Sunday 12th August
Hatfield House Country Fair - Sunday 19th August
Medieval Jousting - Sunday 2nd September
Railway Afternoon - Saturday 15th September
Activity Weekend Away - 21st - 23rd September
Paradise Wildlife Park - Sunday 30th September
The prices of each trip will depend on the venue.
· A nominal charge maybe made for transport.
· Payment is always made on the day.
· Bookings are made on the phone or by email.
· Please notify the office of any cancellation, so other members can benefit.
· A waiting list is kept for each trip.
· Members are limited on the number of mini bus trips they can attend, so that everyone gets the opportunity.
· Parents/carers will be informed of changes in return time if applicable.
· Members who require one to one support will normally be asked to provide their own carer.
· You need to book early onto the Sunday trips
· The usual meeting place and drop off for Sunday trips is outside the Alban Arena, St Albans.
· The usual Sunday trip times is from 11am to 4pm.
